Blackburn Central Library 50th Birthday Celebrations!

Wordsworth Tea Party

Sat 18th Oct, 2 – 3pm, tickets (booking required). Families can come and celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Blackburn Library building with Wordsworth, refreshments and some party games. Entry by FREE TICKET available from the library up to 2 weeks before the event.

 

Library services online

Mon 20th Oct, 11am – 12pm and 2 – 3pm. Have you ever heard about our online books and comics services which you can access from home, but don’t know how to use them? Drop in to Blackburn Library on Monday 20th October at the times above, and a member of staff will be available to show you how they work.

 

Meet Blackburn born author Iqbal Hussain

Tue 21st Oct, 10.15 – 11.45am (free tickets available from the library).  Iqbal Hussain will be joining us to talk about his first novel, Northern Boy’, featuring Rafi Aziz, an ABBA loving 10 year old growing up in early ‘80s Blackburn.  It’s been described by Jennie Godfrey as ‘Billy Elliot meets Bollywood’

 

Read, Rhythm & Rhyme, it’s Birthday time!

Wed 22nd Oct, 10.30am (drop-in), age 5 and under, with parents/carers. Our usual Read, Rhythm & Rhyme session for pre-school children and their parents/carers at Blackburn Library will have a birthday twist. There’s no need to book – just turn up on the day for singing, stories and more.

 

Reminiscence session

Blackburn Library Pages from the Past Thu 23rd Oct, 10am (drop-in). If you’re feeling in the mood for nostalgia, come and have a chat with us about the past over refreshments on Thursday morning.

 

Threads of Celebration (a special Knit & Natter session)

Thu 23rd Oct, 1 – 3pm (drop-in). Knitting needles at the ready, come and enjoy the chat.

 

Brew & Cheers at 50 Years (coffee morning)

Fri 24th Oct, 10am – 12pm (drop-in). Catch up over a cuppa, and we’ll have a chat about your memories of the 1970s while you’re here.

 

Meet the Medusa Quartet

Fri 24th Oct, 7pm (tickets £10.00 – book online at https://spotonlancashire.co.uk/events/medusa-quartet/).  Join us for an evening of folk music with this Canadian quartet whose musical style is a blend of Middle Eastern, Scandinavian, Celtic, Appalachian and Eastern European influences.
